Albums Unrecorded
Size 5ft x 1ft
Medium Acrylic Date 12/5/19 In this Piece titled "Albums Unrecorded" I wanted to relate this piece to a multitude of the other pieces and to really evoke emotions through the piece three different faces revolving around the blank canvas of us ourselves. On a daily basis our expressions change and our emotions go through phases. We are manipulated by things around us and the people we meet. |
Inspiration
Planning Sketches
These are the sketches that I created for each "album" cover I did follow through with some of the designs however I didn't use all of the elements within the pieces. However I created these to loosely see what I wanted between the paintings and the sketches that way I could add more or less play around with what and all that I wanted to add. I found this part really fun, I enjoyed making these.
Process
Process wise I always like to paint in the paint by number way. As far as process I have explained my method before however with this painting I took a different approach and painted the background first again. As normally I would have painted the faces and main items first and then went in with the background colors around them. It is difficult to do that with certain sketches or details so now I think I would rather paint them this way. I enjoyed this,
- Background base color
- Dry
- Sketch faces and objects
- fill in with all basics first
- dry
- add detail
Reflection
Throughout this process I really enjoyed creating the piece however there are of course things I could and should have done differently. Within color choices I am really content and I really enjoyed creating and painting the figures and when I look back on my process I figured it was really smart of me to paint all of the shirts blue creating a layer of symbolism throughout my peace. one thing I wanted to do differently is maybe add more detail and layout the symbols and other figure is before the main figure that way I could add a greater amount of detail. However overall I really enjoyed creating and painting this piece.
Experimentation
As far as experimentation goes in the beginning I really wanted to create portraits of myself instead of figures however I have always enjoyed painting figures more than actual portraits. Going along with you know meaning and symbolism I always feel that we as individuals are open canvases and we are manipulated and impressed or persuaded by the things people and occurrences that happen around us so for me painting a figure allows others to interpret what they want from that individual they can see them however they would like to or appreciate them as much as they would like to.

Connection to Act
Clearly explain how you are able to identify the cause-effect relationships between your inspiration and it's effect upon your artwork?
Within both my piece and the inspiration piece I wanted to make sure that the viewer notices everything in the piece that each piece has its own details and every detail means something,
What is the overall approach the author has regarding the topic of your inspiration?
Upon research I realized that I really enjoyed looking through the different pieces etc and I really learned that I enjoy taking song lyrics and basing songs off of those particularly.
What kind of generalizations and conclusions have you discovered about people, ideas, culture, etc. While you researched your inspiration?
I have learned that many people especially today take things for granted even with there own lives we take a problem so small and blow it into something way bigger than it needs to be. So I feel that instilling realization and awareness is important for artists of any generation.
What is the central idea and theme around your inspirational research?
I researched many photographers and I think that both really stood out to me as far as what I wanted to accomplish with this piece. I intended to use Hispanic photographers like who photographed the real true horrors of crime during his time but I felt that I did not want my piece to come off as dark.
What kind of inferences did you make while reading your research?
I inferred that anyone can make a difference through creating something that they feel passionate towards and that with enough will power it can make a difference.
