This piece I titled emotions as I wanted the textures and colors to evoke feelings one can feel on a day to day basis. Which can be difficult some times for people to express. Some hide away while others show. I really enjoyed this project as a whole because it meant more to me than a few other projects have in the past.
Inspiration
This is a landscape by Edvard Munch that I really enjoyed as in the lines and the patterns in the foreground and plains of the piece it gives it personality.

Japanese artist Toshiko MacAdam is a wonderful textile artist and to me when I look at her pieces they create a sense of deep emotional values for me personally.

Odilon Redon for me always uses these bright colors to depicts scenes that are commonly painted using muted hues and I feel that it's something I really enjoy and take from his work this piece is titled The Window.
Planning Sketches
Process
I basically for this project just made sure to paint my base background blue and then from there I free handed the designs using various types of brushes for different effects and I also made sure to include some texture within the piece to create those emotions.
Expérimentation
I just really worked with patterns and different brushes that would allow me to manipulate certain shapes and textures within the pieces. I really worked hard on making sure that there was a substantial amount of texture and variation.

Reflection
Overall I really enjoyed this project with the inspiration and the project coming out itself. In the beginning I really didn't like the background of the piece and I kept adding till I was content with the piece. After I added the butterfly I continued to add little marks to add more details in the background so it was turning out better than I had originally anticipated for. The main part that I struggled with was the brushes and colors themselves as some of them began to mix and not turn into what color I wanted.
Connection to ACT
Clearly explain how you are able to identify the cause-effect relationships between your inspiration and it's effect upon your artwork?
Both my piece and the work of Pablo Picasso were meant to make others aware to invoke feeling. Pablo created the collection How the Other Half Lives for a reason and in that I feel I made this piece with the intention to reach people widely.
What is the overall approach the author has regarding the topic of your inspiration?
The research is from art history sophomore year only went so far into these photographers. So upon further research I was able to learn more about how and why he began to do what he did.The way he did it.
What kind of generalizations and conclusions have you discovered about people, ideas, culture, etc. While you researched your inspiration?
I have learned that many people especially today take things for granted and sort of sweep the problems we face under the rug. So I feel that instilling realization and awareness is important for artists of any generation.
What is the central idea and theme around your inspirational research?
I researched many photographers and I think that both Eugéne and Jacob really stood out to me as far as what I wanted to accomplish with this piece. I intended to use Hispanic photographers like Enrique Metinides who photographed the real true horrors of crime during his time but I felt that I did not want my piece to come off as dark.
What kind of inferences did you make while reading your research?
I inferred that anyone can make a difference through creating something that they feel passionate towards and that with enough will power it can make a difference.
