My Pieces are titled “ Beginning with youth.” and "Monsters among us" which is based of my view points on positive and negative aspects of the community. I took inspiration from the photography movement of humanist photography with artists such as Willy Ronis and Henri Cartier-Bresson . The medium used to create this piece was Adobe Photoshop CS6 and the method of silk screening. I wanted to invoke the feelings or realizations for things among our cultures within these communities. All photographs are original to me.
Positive and Negative aspects of Milwaukee community
My silk Screen aspect would be the Monster/Clown masks Over the boys Faces. Bright and Boldly in Red
For the Negative aspect as of recently there have been reports of men in vehicles following woman and girls in an attempt to kidnap them. Being a teenage female hearing things like this makes me afraid to walk home as I walk alone. I think it's a major issue of our community that spreads to a bigger picture. 340 young adults and children have been victims of sex trafficking in milwaukee in the last 4 years.

Willy Ronis was a very popular humanist photographer. It was necessary for me to stage the photo in simulation to the suite the problem our city is facing now. Henri Cartier-Bresson is another major Humanist Photographer. Whom I took inspiration from I truly believe that that youth makes up the future it's our job to protect their innocence.

Positiveness in the community begin with the children
Planning Sketches
For my positive piece I already knew more or less what I wanted to go for so Using Photo Shop and basic internet jpeg images I created a mock up of what I wanted to do. So In the next phase I went around and took all my images to I got my siblings and cousins etc. My final design is the third photo.

Planning Sketches
Ideas /Intentions
As I mentioned earlier I really wanted to capture the reality of what was going on in the community. I myself am a big fan of Humanist photography and I felt that that style was the best for me to use when creating these pieces. Not everything went as planned when I began to take my photographs the first group I worked with wasn't listening to me so the photos didn't come out exactly as I wanted them to so I had a total of three different groups.
Brainstorming Images
A you can see in the brain storming images the two different groups of "models" I took several shots Positions Changed models etc.
Process
He is the steps that I think Took the longest to complete
First I created a blank canvas that was 36 x 36 in at 200 resolution.
The first initial step was to edit all my photos and then size them to 36 x 36 in Photo Shop.
Phase 2
This was the actual Screen Printing part
First we began by by picking out our paint colors the mixing it with the spoon
We then taped the stencil onto the back of the screen board
Once it was taped on we printed the design using the stencil with a fair amount of pressure

Critique
This project is on that I am proud of completing. However I am very disappointed in myself. My second Piece is a complete mess the stencils were not what I thought I think I confused my self with negative and positive space so they are misplaced and not as opaque as i wanted them to be. However the Positive piece is one that I am proud of I am completely happy with the way that it turned out.
Experimentation
I experimented with different poses and masks but as I mentioned in my critique the masks were lacking. Poses were made to look nonchalant just like in humanist photography capturing the moment. As for the other piece I wanted to make it modern yet less simple then it was on the previous stages.
Reflection
Overall I'd say that I really enjoyed this project. My Ideas were really bright and relevant to what the project was asking of me. However when it comes to the final pieces I would have preferred things to go different ways. My silk screening aspect didn't go exactly as I wanted it to for the second piece. The negative piece if I could I would definitely redo that complete piece I wasn't exactly content with the final photograph I chose either. I am proud of myself for completing this project.
Connection to ACT
Connection to Act
Clearly explain how you are able to identify the cause-effect relationships between your inspiration and it's effect upon your artwork?
Both my pieces connect with the Humanist movement to invoke feelings upon the on looker. That is my overall goal with my work this year. To relate to the impacts the movement had on the prime time generations. I feel that Henri Cartier-Bresson and Ronis connect as I due.
What is the overall approach the author has regarding the topic of your inspiration?
The research is from art history sophomore year only went so far into these photographers. So upon further research I was able to learn more about how and why and how they chose to depict lighting and positions on the camera etc.The way they were able to have that impact on people.
What kind of generalizations and conclusions have you discovered about people, ideas, culture, etc. While you researched your inspiration?
I have learned that today people chose to sweep things that are going wrong around them under the rug. This is far from what we should be doing so it made me want to shine light on those situations. The culture of our people is slowly becoming isolated by ignoring the needs of others over selfishness.
What is the central idea and theme around your inspirational research?
I researched many photographers and I think that the two really stood out to me as far as what I wanted to accomplish with this piece. I intended to use the movement and was really happy when I saw photos that related tho the topics I wished to discuss within looking at my pieces.
What kind of inferences did you make while reading your research?
I inferred that anyone can make a difference through creating something that they feel passionate towards and that with enough will power it can make a difference. I feel passionate in creating awareness and invoking feelings in my pieces.
