Inspiration
In my design I chose to use 4 total colors.
The first three being Blue, Green and Yellow When choosing the color I wanted to make sure to pay close attention to the certain connotations and meanings behind each individually. For the Blue that represents Reagan it's a different shade then our school color. I chose a lighter sky blue I wanted it to still portray Stability and power that blue represents but in a softer and cooler tone since we are still innocent and children.
As for the green I wanted that to represent our Milwaukee public school system a good balance and natural safe place for myself and fellow peers.
I wanted Yellow to represent the IB diploma program as it is a major impact on our school. Warmth Energy and Optimism. IB wants to make strong learners to represent the community.
The Egyptian Pyramids have been around for a long time they are strong figures. The Egyptians built the Giza Pyramids in a span of 85 years between 2589 and 2504 BC. They are strong structures as is Reagan and our community as well as the shape itself a triangle has three points representing for me MPS, IB and Reagan.

Planning Sketches
With the next flag I also involved symbolism of 3 and to me pyramids are super strong they are statues that have stood for long periods of time and proven to be one of the strongest structures known to man once again with the three points 1 representing Reagan when representing MPS and 1 representing Milwaukee. |
when looking into what goes into a good flag I knew that the designs needed to remain simple and bold. However the flags still needed to be filled with detail and meaning without being to intense or busy. When creating a flag for Reagan there are a lot of different factors and elements one can put into a flange such as our IB learner profile traits all ten of them. Or how we at Reagan are well balanced talented individuals. Flags are something we see on a daily basis. I took inspiration from the South Korean flag the design is simple but there is much greater meaning put into it.
Process
I used Prismacolor Colored Pencils to fill in the final design to get an opaque and smooth color I applied a lot of pressure when filling them in. |
The first and most important thing was to sketch the design onto the final piece of drawing paper. For this I took s ruler and a number 2 graphite mechanical pencil to get the desired shape/design.

Reflection
The main challenge I faced in the journey to complete this project was coming up with the design and making sure the meaning behind it was strong and well representative of what the school and its community means to me.The second biggest factor was at the very end and it’s more so an error that I made for lack of paying attention. When it came time to mount I put the final flag wrong on the board. The measurements were acurate but a second guess led to the 2 in margin being on the top instead of the bottom as originally intended. I’m very upset at myself for second guessing however I still feel proud of my design and the meaning behind the simplicity.
